What You'll Do:

The mission of the Costing Specialist is to help manage and coordinate the activities involved with the costing of finished goods and raw materials for BPG International’s goods and services. The focus will be on cost effective delivery of all goods and services to BPG’s customers with an emphasis on improving the company’s financial position through cost management and supplier partnerships. 

Cost Operations: 

  • Support the maintenance of master cost sheets both within the ERP system and tools used outside of ERP 
  • Generate and maintain project-based invoice and LC data 
  • Manage MOQ’s, EOQ’s, and lead times during costing process 
  • Analyze and calculate procurement costs and recommend methods to decrease spending 
  • Analyze and calculate transportation and distribution costs and recommend savings opportunities 
  • Become SME for all Duty, Tariff, and Harmonic Tariff Schedule requirements 
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure profitable cost when appropriate 
  • Support monthly financial reviews 

Costing Analysis: 

  • Participate in costing efforts related to upstream costing, line reviews, sourcing efforts, rework projects, cost savings initiatives, and as directed by manager 
  • Track and report costing for all requested programs, line reviews, and opportunity analysis assigned 
  • Calculate and provide turnkey cost models for upstream and opportunity analysis including but limited to inbound logistics, duties, tariffs, and all distribution costs 
  • Support marketing, sales, and supply chain via financial analysis of product life cycle changes 
  • Provide analysis for cost changes when appropriate 

New Product Purchasing: 

  • Execute RFQ’s for new products and calculate landed costs using assigned tools 
  • Closely collaborate with internal and external partners, including Marketing, Sourcing, and Development teams to drive new product launches and meet dates/quantities required by sales 
  • Manage the component costing from concept-to-launch execution of all new product launches from a product development and product marketing point of view. 
  • Routinely measure results against the identified objectives & establish mitigation plans if the target objectives are not satisfied. 
  • Participation as required as key member of New Product implementation team 
  • Track and report costing updates for all assigned NPD projects during regularly scheduled team update meetings 
  • Works collaboratively with Supply Chain Operations to transfer new products to daily operational management 

Supplier Management: 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to facilitate details needed for all costing efforts 
  • Support the sourcing of new suppliers to help achieve cost savings initiatives 
  • Make supplier recommendations based on total cost analysis—item cost, quality, delivery timing, and program timing. 

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Proactively recommend, as part of BPG’s ongoing process improvement, ideas or procedures that solve problems, expand our capability, improve company performance or eliminate bottle necks, internal and external to Supply Chain. 
  • Leads by example for all BPG Values and the BPG Way. 
  • Drive system usage and business process consistency across the organization. 
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost of components on new product programs that support increased competitive costing 

What We're Looking For:                  

  • BS degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management or relevant experience in Consumer Products Supply Chain roles. 

  • Minimum 3-5 years proven results-oriented Supply Chain experience in planning or procurement. 
  • Experience with new product development, manufacturing, distribution, and international transportation a plus. 
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and organizational skills. 
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and respond quickly to unexpected events. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to operate in a team environment. 
  • Able to problem solve by applying data-based analysis. 
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels. 
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP software platforms and Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (with emphasis on data mining/analysis, pivot tables, v-lookups, and graphs) preferred. 
  • Exposure to consumer packaging and injection molding a plus. 
  • Industry affiliations and certifications a plus (i.e. CPM, CPIM, APICS, Six Sigma). 
  • International / Domestic transportation experience preferred including understanding of VAT, exchange rates, duties, and tariffs 


Important Information:

  • Travel may be required, including domestic trips which may include some overnight or weekends. 
  • Applicant must have the ability to move freely throughout all our partner’s manufacturing plants and distribution centers. 
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 
  • BPG’s office is located in Wilmington, DE. This position is hybrid and requires a minimum of 2 days in the office, and allows for up to 3 days per week of remote work, when not attending in-person meetings or other required onsite needs. 
  • Standard schedule 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary based on business needs.
