What You'll Do
The mission of the Regulatory & Compliance Associate is to support BPG's effort to meet and/or exceed our product and customers' compliance requirements. This position will manage the day-to-day tasks associated with the compliance process and interface with key internal and external partners to ensure our products meet all federal, state, and local requirements. This individual must be able to help create and execute a best-practice process in a timely manner. This position is responisnle for helpung drive each potentonal complaince issue to root cause, respultion, and devlop solutions with the BPG team to prevent recurrence.
Regulatory & Compliance Operations:
Be our subject matter expert on product compliance requirements & knowledge of testing protocols- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments relevant to our industry/products
- Maintain compliance policies and procedures
- Support Product Development team in areas of compliance and safety for new projects
- Oversee the 3rd party testing process to ensure that all styles are tested, pass with satisfactory results and meet all federal, state and local requirements as applicable
- Help troubleshoot & mitigate risks that may come up from a compliance and quality/testing perspective
- Generate and track regulatory paperwork
- Manage document database for test reports, invoices, regulatory documentation (including fragrance house documents), etc
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the cross-functional team and external stakeholders
- Develop reporting process and rhythm to communicate key metrics and progress
- Hold our business partners accountable for objectives and commitments relating to compliance
- Lead projects as assigned
- Help develop and communicate label requirements to key stakeholders in the product label development process to ensure compliance with all FDA, FTC, FPL, CPSIA and other standards as required
- Review and approve product packaging for compliance with all FDA, FTC, FPL, CPSIA and other standards as required
- Proofread and approve product labels and instructions
- Track legislation/government requirement updates as they impact BPG product and label requirements (US/Canada)
Become familiar with customer compliance programs and execute compliance requirements for BPG Company and its programs.
- Prepare and submit regulatory/compliance reports and filings in a timely manner.
- Assure all needed supplier and vendor documentation is logged, tracked and appropriately communicated to our customers as required.
- Set up and maintain a BPG compliance calendar to track compliance activities.
- Process and track sample submissions for all product samples throughout product life cycle (pre-production, top of production, ongoing annual testing).
- Participate in activities for social, quality, environmental, CTPAT, fire safety and ethics to ensure all audits are scheduled and coordinated with all parties. Monitor corrective action follow-ups and appropriate filings of associated documentation.
- Coordinate customer product testing with 3rd party laboratories, including sample submission, report tracking, notifications and filings.
- Liaise with sales on new product and new customer set up on customer compliance platforms such as UL WERCSmart.
- Monitor all customers' quality programs for changes in requirements regarding compliance, fines, and other system changes
- Create a best-in-class process for managing customer compliance requirements and ensuring execution to those requirements
- Monitor Compliance Email Box.
- Assist with development, update/revise and manage safety data sheets for each product and retailer per federal, state, local and/or customer quality program requirements. Provide SDSs as requested by internal team members and vendors.
- Proactively recommend, as part of BPG’s ongoing process improvement, ideas or procedures that solve problems, expand our capability, improve company performance and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Collaborate in the development of work instruction, SOPs and/or policies.
What We’re Looking For:
- College degree: BS/BA in Chemistry, Engineering or a relevant field is a plus
- 2-3 years of experience in a regulatory and/or compliance-focused role
- Knowledge of basic office management systems and procedures
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Office 365)
- Target Compliance expertise a plus
- Familiarity with Smartsheet a plus
- Reliable and detail-oriented with patience and professionalism
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Multi-tasking aptitude
- Proactive problem solver
Important Information:
This position requires occasional domestic travel.
- Applicant must have the ability to move freely throughout the retail environment and our partner’s manufacturing plants and distribution centers.
- Visual acuity (corrected) to proof-read artwork, read directions and drawings and to inspect products.
- Able to lift 35 lbs independently
- Stand, squat, kneel, or sit for extended periods of time
- BPG’s office is located in Wilmington, DE. This position is hybrid and requires a minimum of 2 days in the office, and allows for up to 3 days per week of remote work, when not attending in-person meetings or other required onsite needs.
- Standard schedule 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary based on business needs.
